Ganja-Mart

So hey, legalize the hootch? Sure, why not? Let's take a look at the possible consequences of legally availabe marijuana.

Firstly the stuff would be taxed as heavily as alcohol, which probably isn't a good thing for many users, but I'm sure they can get by. That tax money would definitely help with the development Canada, specifically the rediculous condition of highways in my part of the country.

Another good thing is that the creation of a consumer market would ultimately result in the creation of a producer market. All those herbal greenthumbs would have to worry bout stealing electricity because their grow-op would be legitimately profitable.

Now the Canadian government does grow medicinal marijuana, but those that use it say it sucks and go elsewhere for their cure. people allowed to use marijuana have to obtain it in an illegal manner because the country can't provide a quality product. Remember what hearing about what happened during prohibition in the states?

Regardless, Marijuana is cheap compared to other drugs, it's "safe", and readily accesible to anyone willing to look. Nomatter how the government looks at it, people will smoke pot, so why not cash in?

T-shirts are just clothes

So yeah, there are these T-shirts out there for rape victims that say "I got raped" right across the chest. Now my opinion of people have been raped is no different of a person who hasn't been raped, but if you ask me, there are some things that don't accompany a first impression hand-shake.

sensible:
"Hi, I'm Jane, I'm a doctor."
"Hi, I'm Jane, I like your shoes."
"Hi, I'm Jane, and I too am a fan of (insert band name here)."
not sensible:
"Hi, I'm Jane, I never brush my teeth."
"Hi, I'm Jane, I shot my dog for fun."
"Hi, I'm Jane, I was raped."

Being a rape victim is a personal thing, not everyone wants to know that you were forced into having sex. Not every stranger deserves to know that about you. If you would like to talk to someone about the unpleasant experience then talk with someone you trust. If you want help with coping with the event, having yourself known to every stranger as a victim is not the way to do it. In text it's just words but when you talk to someone your tone of voice and the actual conversation have a lot more meaning than that person just knowing it happened.

They say tuition freeze ends...

I say we only start to blatantly get charged for our expenses. Until now post secondary students have been gouged left right and center. I live at a University residence, and believe me, it would actually be cheaper for me to eat in restaurants every day instead of having to use the provided meal plan. Honestly, I go down to the caffeteria and buy chicken fingers, fries and a drink for over $10. It's not to say that now that the freeze has been lifted nothing will change, because I'm sure things will change. All I can say is that I'm glad I got into college when I did and only have one more year left. I've already lost an arm to pay for college, now I'm working on a leg, I don't think I can afford any more right now.
